Average Costs of Chiropractic Care

Costs of Medical or Health Care

Even in tough economic times, ignoring health problems is not a good strategy for improving a financial situation. When you consider that over 60% of all bankruptcies in the U.S. are because of expensive medical treatment and medical bills, caring for your health before you develop a condition becomes a great investment. An even better investment is regularly getting checked to see if seeds of a health condition have taken root before becoming deeply embedded in the body. Usually dealing with conditions and pain now saves you time and money in the future versus waiting until you are in crisis mode.

Since we’re on the subject of economics, health conditions and pain lead to many days of lost work, causing a domino effect in the legal, economic, and health care industry.

Chiropractic vs Traditional Clinical Care

This is where chiropractic care comes in and is one of the reasons why it has gained so much attention over the years. Health experts have examined a given demographic of individuals who opted for chiropractic care against those who had traditional medical care. The difference between both methods lies in three different factors: surgical rates, diagnostic imaging, and level of patient satisfaction.

Indeed, costs are considerably lower for individuals who opted for chiropractic care due to the absence of any medical equipment or prescription drugs in the equation. Therefore, this is where the savings come in for chiropractic treatments. I read somewhere that chiropractic treatment costs about 90% less than the price of surgery.
Coverage of Chiropractic Cost

According to research and survey by Chiropractic Economics magazine, an average chiropractic session would cost around $65. It can be as low as $37 to as high as $79, depending also on what procedures were done and what stage of treatment you are in. The part of country and the associated overhead also affects the cost of care.

Typically your first visits costs more than a “regular scheduled” visit because there are examinations and assessments involved, and the length of time is typically greatest on the first visit. For your follow-up visits, you can expect the rate to go down.

In cases that require any additional procedures such as advanced imaging, the doctor will usually inform you of these charges upon making the recommendation for them.

Savings Options

Now that research studies have revealed that chiropractic care is indeed more cost-effective than traditional medical treatment, there are more ways for you to increase your savings:

• Health Insurance plans are changing every year, and if you have coverage for chiropractic, they will often cover care that they deem medically necessary.

• Chiropractic treatment is considered tax-deductible.

• There are certain chiropractors who perform direct pay services, and they often charge less than others. Each session could be priced at a discounted rate to compensate for the lack of coverage. Many patients in my office find their coverage to be lacking and are more pleased with our direct pay options over their insurance coverage.

Affordable First Visit – Some doctors (like us) believe in offering a very affordable First Office Visit so that patients can evaluate for themselves if chiropractic care can benefit them.
